The first time i used this Vodacom service, I got someone in customer care to help me purchase my data bundle. He walked me through the steps and I received my sms.

I checked my balance but it wasn't less the data bundle amount. But he said I could go ahead and use it anyway, as my balance would reflect later. Only to be cut off two days later because wasn't on a data bundle at all.

I logged a complaint and got an sms later to say that the engineers could find no record of me buying a data bundle. HUH?? So i was out of all that money.

Not impressed but it's my only option for now.

I don't understand all the 'technical talk' but I hope this doesn't continue to happen!

If you paid for it, fight for it, it is your's!!!!. Knowingly or not VC is making millions out of us. Seeing that there are more PREPAID users than contract user's we should call a mass action & stop purchasing PPDB for 2 months and go somewhere else, if you have a business to run. Let them feel what it feels like to loose a couple of Rand's.

scorpiocandy, when was this?

Was this on pre-paid or contract and what method did you use to buy the bundle? 4me, SMS, etc?

I'm not to sure which SMS you received? (We only implemented this system, specifically for contract users, yesterday)

It was at the end of August for a prepaid data bundle. The sms I am referring to is the one that confirms you have purhased the data bundle.
Sorry I must have misunderstood what you were referring to. Point is, i was out of pocket a lot of money (for me) and was just told it was my fault.

Don't want to hijack the thread if I misunderstand, but I was pretty mad about it!

Please post the exact text of the SMS you received.

Let's try and trace it, and see if we can figure out what happened.

Please PM me:

- All your contact details (name, contact nuamber, e-mail, etc.)
- The number you bought the bundle on
- The number you received the SMS on (same one I assume?)
- The bundle size
- The method you used to buy. Very important.
- Aprox date and time.

I'll ask mthe guys to see if they can find a trace of the purchase. You did not by any chance keep the SMS?

On the USSD command *111# it takes me 5 to 10 tries to purchase a bundle. Maybe this is happening because I purchase my PPDB on the first of the month? I always confirm my bundle has been purchased by checking my balance again.

Purchase PPDB

How do I purchase a PPDB if my data bundle has been used up?? I mean online via my modem sim. A suggestion could be that VC provide's a R5 credit to allow for online purchase of PPDB or allow a purchase of a PPDB when there is only 20MB left of the PPDB.

Purchase online it is quicker.
I followed ic's suggestion by purchasing online. I have done this twice now, once via dial-up and other time my wife did it at work via Internet. First I purchase airtime via the bank for the exact amount of bundle I need. Then went to vodacom4me to data bundles purchased the data bundle size I needed. I could connect within minutes no problems what so ever.

Not sure what any of this has to do with the problem that scorpiocandy mentioned .

The purchase method I use for buying PPDBs, is the [post=1086462]SMS PPDB purchase method[/post] as documented by v3g in the FAQ thread, I still check the new PPDB's status before connecting to ensure that the newly bought PPDB is actually active before attempting to transfer any data.

I had an idea it could be in the wrong place!

@ic can you move it to where it should be living.
Thanks again.
