Hey guys,

Trying Mandriva One 2010 for the first time. After having a mission of figuring out and downloading the rp-pppoe rpm from a seperate PC and installing it I can now connect to PPP0.

I am succesfully connected and I even have an IP address on PPP0 but there is no Internet connection...ie google doesn't work :( like there is no data being transferred at all.

I have no idea what I'm doing lol...any ideas? Any other info I need to provide? I have confirmed my ISP details and made sure it works on another windows PC just fine so not sure what the problem could be. :(

Oh holy shyte...it just seesm to have come right by itself after 40 minutes of retrying the same thing ??? anyway thanks :) lol

:D I hate it when this happens. You mess with something for two hours trying to get it right, then when you're absolutely at your wits end you ask for help on a forum. 2 minutes later everything just works!

It seems you have to follow a certain pattern lol. And make sure you disable eth0 as active interface before ppp0 will work :/ I suppose something to do with dhcp or whatever. Anyway...

Well now believe it or not I have been struggling for about an hour trying to figure how the heck to change the desktop background  am I that much of a noob!! :( there is no option in desktop settings at all and opening a pic and selecting ¨set as desktop background¨ says desktop could not be changed or something as such :/ hahahaha this is a frustrating first Mandriva experience I must say

PS google returns only one result pointing out an option I don´t have - it just doesnt exist on my Linux :/ I really must be a noob :)

Dont you have the option to change a picture to a wallpaper when you open it with Mandriva's default picture viewer?

That's how I first did it in Ubuntu, before I figured out you can just right-click on the desktop. :)

Just wish my command line knowledge was better, cos it's so much faster than using the graphical interface to install, edit or delete apps and make system changes.

no :( the only place I have found anything related to desktop background is if I open a pic in Kolourpaint and there is an option to set as desktop under File. But if I click it it says ¨could not change wallpaper¨.

There is no option to change background in the ¨look&feel¨ options either as illustrated in a google search. I get the feeling Im missing something here :/ like I need to install something or this specific version of Mandriva 2010 One doesn´t have something or I don´t know lol.

Right click on desktop has nothing either :/ I have almost given up. Got WINE to work with something and a browser game is going well so Im happy for now.

Might I add what makes me feel really stupid is that there is not a single google result for me. SOMEONE END MY NOOB MISERY (first all my endless Ubuntu woes now this) hahha :) gonna try signing up on their community and see what they say.

Me and Linux just do not seem to mix. Thinking I should just not touch it and stare at the lame desktop lol

Somewhere something is seriously wrong with your installation, if you right click on your desktop there should be the following options:
Desktop Settings-> Wallpaper.

Or take a snapshot of your desktop and show us how it looks, then we might figure out what they butchered in Mandriva KDE.

OK MyWorld you sorta helped me by making me type everything out then stumbling on one I wondered about :)

For shame :s found it staring at me with the right click on desktop menu. Only it is not called Desktop Settings or anything...it is called ¨Folder View Settings¨ which I would never have imagined had anything to do with the desktop :/

OMG think I am gonna be sick now hahaha. Thanks :)
