PPPoE Relay on Billion 5102?

I just want to know, does the Billion 5102 have PPPoE Relay feature, where the router creates it's own connection to an ISP and I can still connect to a sperate ISP using PPPoE from my computer, like the 7202G?
 
AFAIK not. I have a 5102S and haven't been able to get it to work yet.

Unfortunately the 5102x does not support this function. Only bridge or routing mode can be selected. Sorry....:(

Can the 7202g do this? How would I set this up?

When you have your router setup normally (where it creates the ISP connection), go to Configuration > WAN > ISP. Then at "Main WAN Connection" click edit. Then at the bottom there's a check box to enable PPPoE Relay. ;)

Hey nGAGEd, just to take this a step further, once you have set up the PPPoE relay, I would then set up a PPPoE connection on a PC on the network. This PC will then route via its dial up PPPoE connection, while the rest of the network will route via the routers connection. Is this correct??

EDIT: Damn, it seems to be working. My one PC is using my saix account and my other is routing the IS account. Now I don't have to change the setting in the router each time I want to hit the news servers. Yahoo.

There's a way to make it even easier.

Get RouteSentry, set it up with your SAIX and IS accounts, and then it routes all international traffic over the SAIX acc, and all local traffic over the IS acc, then you don't even have to disconnect from the IS acc on your PC when you want to go to an international site. ;)

Even though routesentry is a brilliant app, it doesnt work 100%, sometimes it router local peers through my int account when using bit torrent. But nonetheless the program deserves an international award of excellency or something :)
 
I set up route sentry last night at home. Was easy. (Just got my adsl...). Haven't done major testing on it yet, but it certainly seems to be working nicely. Connecting to IS through the local only account, rest of the world through a web africa prepaid thing. So far so good.
 
just becareful when u downloading through p2p or torrents, just to be sure, disconnect the webafrica account, so only local gets used up.
 
Haven't done any p2p downloading or torrents yet, but I'll keep that in mind, and keep an eye on it. Thanks for the warning.
 
Hey this is a win!!!!!!!!!!!


I had always wanted to try this local / international split routing but was stumped because i have a VoIP ATA attached to the router so thought if i put it in bridged mode i would lose the connection on the router, but this "bridge + routing" is amazing.

It actually solves my ATA problem. Previously if i wanted to make the best possible VoIP call i would have to log in the router to change to my unshaped account.

My set-up now is router connected to unshaped WA account, so my VoIP is unshaped. PC's on network split routing between a IS local and WA Shaped international accounts. Thanks so much to Antibody for route sentry.
 
My 5102S can?

+Enapsulation options
ISP : PPPoE / PPPoA

+PPPoE / PPPoA options
Username: xxxxx
Password: xxxxx
Encapsulation: PPPoE LLC
Bridge interface: activated*

The last option is what enables it. My router handles it's own dsl connection and I can connect via pppoe on my other PCs in the house.
