Prayer doesn't work - dominee

You know what i find funny . Usually when there's an religion topic on these forums the first ones to comment are people who have no religion ... i believe the term is atheist. Yet alot of these so called "atheist" spend so much of their "precious" time debating about religion ... especially christianity . So my question is why do some people that call themselves atheist put so much effort in trying to prove there is no God "mocking and just blind arrogance" by keep getting into these debates . Its more like their anti-God than anything else.

Surely you should ask them before you launch into a tirade telling them what they believe and why they do what they do?

You know... understanding instead of judging...?

no, you just need to be human.
we all suffer from confirmation bias or any number of the plethora of cognitive biases.
you don't need to be religious for delusion to be a useful psychological mechanism.
 
Im not judging at all.... Its just the way these threads usually go. Thats why i said "my question". Im an christian and have a few friends who are atheist and we talk alot about religion and i dont mind it at all . But theres an difference between debating about it and just trolling the thread with mockery.

Oh you're not judging. You're just assuming that they're "mocking" and expressing nothing but "blind arrogance". In other words they have no real reasoning for their stance... they're just arrogant and mocking. Definitely no judgment there of course not no. :rolleyes:

and so what if they're "anti-God". Are they not allowed to be? Is that something bad? This implies a fair amount of judgment if you ask me.

Why do people who who are not part of the ANC spend so much time complaining about the ANC... perhaps because what the ANC does effect their lives? Now try extend that thought a little... just a little...

Really dude... think twice, type once. Its pretty freeken obvious. Religion impacts atheists lives daily. Our society is drenched in religion. Also, just because someone is atheist (ie, dont believe in myths), doesnt mean they dont like learning about the myths. I love reading up on religion and its a fascinating topic... but its on the same level of interesting as other make believe Gods like Zeus.

Mate if I was really judging dont you think i would have gone a more direct route. Mocking and blind arrogance is no secret when it comes to these threads. Am i suppose to remain silent ? As for anti-God thing arent they the ones who are judging? Would we even have had this discussion if there wasnt "judging" to begin with?

Anyhow these threads never remain civil long enough to get to an point.

Lets all just stick with trolling on malema!

Not really, you made a really silly comment about atheists and how they talk about religion, as if they have no right to. I just put your post into perspective with an apt analogy. You tried to troll atheists with a very narrow and bigoted perspective.

Just as religious folks preach to the atheist so should the atheist reserve the right to preach to a religious person. When priests preach to the unconverted they spend a lot of time talking about the ways of the unconverted. I think the atheist are doing the same by talking about how illogical religion is. They are trying to convert you into their non-religion. If you c an preach then you must be prepared to be preached to as well.

Mate mocking isnt talking "well atleast in a civil way" . Did you scroll up on this thread? Please be honest and tell me if that isnt trolling ? Anyhow im done here :) ...

I have no problem with that mate. But preaching and trolling is two different things. :) Anyhow as I said im done here.
