Preferred DVD brand?

Verbatim, non other.

Taiyo Yuden where can I buy these in CT, woud like to try them?
Heard alot about them just can't seem to find them in CT.
You need to ask a Mac person because these are just about the only media that will write at the advertised speed on those dodgy Apple DVD drives (Matsush*ta).

I saw somewhere that TDK were not making DVDs anymore, yet I still see them. They weren't so bad.

ya, i never had problems with them either... 4cos on the other hand... *shivers*

I think you have to order them, DigitalPlanet sells them as do probably
other resellers. I think they're grey imports probably.

I either import from the States or get my gf to bring me a crate or two each time she visits, the Japanese domestic brand name of TY is called "That's".

My Mac Pro came with a NEC (rebranded as SONY which I of course flashed to get it region free and enable DVD-RAM capabilities.)

Mine burns Verbatim, Fuji, HP and TDK media at full speed too. :)

Those dodgy drives must be in the Apple Laptops. :)

Verbatim here when humanly possible, otherwise TDK.

I burnt a stack of about 70 dvd's last year after a school concert, and not one person came back with a dud disk.

I know it's a little pricey, but I do stay away from the cheaper disks. It just isn't worth losing your data or whatever is on the disk when it goes belly up.

I use only Verbatim (printable surface) for my video productions, we do about 1500 a year. This year I have not had even one rejection from a client:)
DVD+R's are my format, more compatible in standalone machines. Old LG's and Hitachi's dont like certain -R disks.

Top Brand
Verbatim

BAD BAD BRANDS
Princo (can't write to the last 3mm without errors)
4Cos (always data errors)

I have used others with very mixed results.

Odd that Verbatim used to be the dreaded awful brand when people were using floppies (5 1/4 inches). Everyone wanted Dysan then. Aaaah, the old days!

Verbatim all the way. I've had problems with princo and imation. I also trust that 'no name' brand from CNA. Also consider AIM when out of cash.

I would rather sit with a Full HDD and not be able to DL any more anime than risk putting onto a bad DVD remove it from the HDD and come back 3 months later to watch it and find the DVD stuffed  happend to me more than once...

Definately Verbatim all the way ... and I don't touch TDK anymore ... sooooo dodgy.

... that's why I double backup :D

Verbatim without a doubt. first and second place, TDK comes in a close third

Verbatim were bought out by Mitsubishi. Secondly Taiyo Yuden OEM some disks for Verbatim too. TY's are made in Japan. :)
Fuji's are also excellent media. Some also made by TY. We forgot to mention one other make = Kodak. They make great archival
media too, easily in the TY class.

Haha, I never had probs with Dysan or Verbatim 1.44MB disks nor the 1.2MB floppies, luckily. I did have problems with that silver make which
sold in blue/silver boxes and were a cheaper variety of Dysan's speaking about the 1.44MB disks.
