Pregnancy over 38

What are your thoughts on women who fall pregnant after the age of 38ish? For, against, couldnt care less?

Personally I don't support it and that makes me feel uncomfortable (mostly I think, because I don't like to think of myself as discriminatory or prejudicial in anyway). I also cant substantiate why I don't support pregnancy in middle age - I have no idea why it makes me so uncomfortable! All I know is that the moment I see a woman who is "too old" and clearly pregnant, I immediately mentally judge them.

What are your thoughts?
 
Why care? Besides more possible complications I don't see any issues. This one dude I use to work with he and his wife were really trying for years, she finally conceived at age 40. They were over the moon and everybody else were happy for them.
 
What's wrong with it? Times have changed and people have various (valid) reasons for getting pregnant at a later stage than they used to. We can't all get married in our mid-to-late 20s, manufacture a few babies, raise them and then grow old. People are career-oriented now, and with the increased costs of living, you need to be able to afford to have a baby now before just popping one out.
 
Isn't 38 getting a bit dangerous?

But then again, kids before 30 and you are daft IMHO

My mom had my brother at 42 (and me at 33). He turned out only slightly retarded :p She's 60, I'm 27(almost 28), he's 19. What's the problem?
 
I have no problem with it at all. As long as the female realizes that the older she gets, the greater the chance of Downs. Other than for medical reasons...I really dont see why not.

Well, lets move the age up a bit. Say 45. By the time the kid has finished studying mommy his mom is already 66 years old or dead. I think that is a bit old and not fair to the child. So to me there is a point where people should just stop having kids.

mmm nah...I still dont have a problem with it really just because of the reason you gave. I would have a really big problem with it because I do think having a baby at that age is tempting fate. But if they are happy taking that chance then it is their risk to take. It is a free country...no matter what I or anyone else thinks.

What about them? Sorry...I am not really a kiddy person. Put a picture of a cute Beagle there and you might get a response :p

Seriously though....I personally do think that people should cut down on how many kids they have. I personally think 1 child per family is more than enough...2 MAX....but as has come out in many discussions on here before, you cannot dictate this sort of thing to people really. Family planning is a a very personal thing...and can only be changed by education.

I think people should be allowed to have x amount of kids based on their combined income :/ That'll, quite literally, teach the *****ers.

And as soon as I have my own empire I will make it so :twisted:

Seriously though, you can call me racists but this goes for everyone: WTF do you think you are doing having 6 kids but living in a shack while you cannot afford food or an education for them. Your just spawning more "failures" that will end up costing the state lots of money to support your lazy ass!

Hmmm for me I agree and disagree! I personally think for children it's nice to have a brother or sister! So I would say minimum is 2, but this only applies I'd you can afford it! I come for a family of 4 so I am bias I guess!

Then on the other hand all the children in the loco I totally disagree with all of that!

Look...I also cant imagine not having my sister. We are very close...but if you never had a sibling...then dont think you can miss something you never had. You might want one...but you wont miss it either.

Although I don't see anything wrong with it.

Catherine Zeta Jones is 42 and I'd happily impregnate the daylights out of her.

The moment they start stealing my things to feed themselves or i have to pay (tax money)for their stupidity. You want a million kids, fine. Keep them away from my property and feed them yourself.
