Hi guys,

Im getting married in a couple of weeks and want to get a prenup. Do I have to go and see my lawyer or is there some place
I can get just a normal straight forward contract. The lawyer charges for this are insane, to draw up a contract, holy hell!!!

I just want something that says whats mine is mine, whats hers is hers and everything that what aquired during marraige will be split down the middle if something happens.

Hope someone can help me.

Some shops sell templates of these agreements.

It is one of the most important documents you will ever sign so maybe an attorney is money well spent ?

Also, if none of you really have anything of much value, there is no point in an ANC.

Yes, will be money well spent. Was just wondering if there are not any other ways to do it.

Shop around for the cheapest price from attorneys in your area. Ask the priest/Imam/Rabbi if he recommends anyone. As long as there are not any special clauses in it, it won't cost much. I will ask my lawyer if you want

Spend the money but it should not have to cost a fortune. Its not just about what happens if you divorce, its also about a will. A good lawyer will also give you the correct advice.

Shop around for prices if you feel your being ripped a big one.

OP should also remember that the marital regime trumps any will he may draft.

You aren't going to be able to do this yourself, and you will require the services of an attorney who is also a notary public.

In SA the correct terminology is an anti-nuptial contract. It will be executed in the presence of a Notary who needs to lodge and file same in the relevant registry.

Great Freudian slip ... the best that I have seen in ages ... :)

My wife and I used these guys

They were very well priced and extremely helpful when explaining our options and the terminology.

Not bad, mine was free tho eon's ago.

PS: I am worried about their spelling for a legal entity.

An antenup is the only good thing ANC could be involved with. Mine cost R1100 I think and it is worth paying for.
