I was on myBB when I posted this, then caught anot
Does anyone perhaps know where I can get a prepaid 3G (U-SIM) SIM Card?

I just upgraded my phone to one with 3G capability, and need a SIM card to go with it.

Most stores do not have any idea what I am talking about when asked, but according to MTN's Web Site these should be available.

Thanks a lot.

Any SIM should work with a 3G device.

There seems to be a requirement for a special 3G Sim for Video Calling.

For Data and normal phoning the ordinary prepaid from PnP works.

I do video calling using a normal 32k sim on a 3G sony ericsson.

If you find you really need one, go to one of the MTN Service Centres, they have them in stock and they can do a sim-swap. There will most probably be a fee, so be sure you need it.

On Vodacom you can use a 16k SIM for 3G video call and data. It should be the same for MTN just they mention on the MTN site a possible international roaming incompatability if not using a U-SIM but think that is bollocks.

Hi MTNDD,

Thanks for the comeback.

I phoned around a little bit and I might as well be trying to speak Xhosa in Greece. I mostly spoke with MTN Connect Stores and nobody had the faintest clue what I was talking about. No one knew what a USIM was. I also asked about availibility of the Samsung P910 with DVB-H capability, but again all I heard was the deafening sounds of silence as the person on the other side raked their brains for the meaning of those acronyms. Even after I explained it to them I could definitely tell most of them have never heard of this before.

I tell you, if I was running a store like that I would be able to tell a client all about a new handset as soon as it was announced internationally, and I would definitely be able to answer them on technical queries regarding the network itself.

No big deal though, I am sure they will be on par with this in a few months.

Good day,

In terms of a Prepaid USIM I'm trying to find out if we stock these as I'm not to sure of that in terms of the capability of the DVB-H I'm not sure why the guys aren't up to speed with this but have raised it as a concern........
