Prepaid Data Expiry

You lose quite a bit in terms of sales by not allowing it to last longer. If it lasted longer then people would buy more ata time. As it is prepaid it would only add to revenue.

Well you see if we changed it to 90 days it would make a difference as we don't support multiple bundles at this stage but -

If you had 90 day period then you would go have to go 90 days and not be able to load another bundle in that 90 day period so you load a 10mb bundle and you stuck for 90 days

But yeah multiple bundles might help towards revenue

Everybody that doesn't use their primary device and number for data effectively has access to multiple bundles through multiple prepaid sim cards. If its being done anyway you may as well make it easier. :)

Multiple prepad sim cards. :eek: Could an intelligent person really have designed such a crazy system?

For pre-paid clients fine, but for billed customers SURELY a better, more convenient method of using MTN data services could be designed.

The network that gets this right, a fairly priced data service designed for the benefit and convenience of the customers, will ultimately win the mobile broadband race.

I don't think it was by design, just a symptom of the restrictions they put in place. Bundles that didn't expire would work well for casual users, similar to prepaid ADSL accounts, that way they could get decent rates and their usage pattern wouldnt really matter because they'd use it eventually.

Well as mentioned before we are working on a mulitaple bundle offer so that should help

Am I missing something here??

How can Pre-Paid data expire?? You buy a set amount of data...and it expires after 30 days? Isn't that called stealing?

As far as I know none of the broadband providers currently support carry over on data bundles so if you load 100mb bundle and you don't use it before the 30 day's you lose it - My question is you load 100mb why wouldn't you use it as you're paying for it but I hear you and hence why we also looking into carry over

Sorry to shyte on your porch about this, MTNDD, I know you are only the messenger.
The whole concept of pre-paid data expiring is rather bizarre to me. It's no wonder the broadband companies rake in so much profit.

Web Africa's prepaid carries over indefinitely.

From their ADSL FAQ:
What is the difference between prepaid and fixed cap accounts?
Prepaid accounts are respectively "Pay as you go" accounts. You will be able to manage your bandwidth totally by yourself. All unused bandwidth will carry over from month to month if it is not used.

Fixed Cap accounts come in 3 gig, 5 gig and 10 gig increments. All fixed cap accounts are hard capped once your bandwidth quota is reached, bandwidth does not carry over if it is not used , it will be lost and you will be re allocated new bandwidth the following month.

Weeeelll ... let's say it's day 27 of my 30 days on a 100MB bundle and I've got 15MB left. In the next 3 days I don't receive any large emails or need to browse stuff while mobile. I'd rather reserve that R12 I've paid for mobile access than use it for stuff I could download on my home line or at the office at no marginal cost.

Count me in as very interested in news on carry-over and multiple bundles within a month, when you can get any!

Bundle. Bundle. Toil and Bundle. You think multiple bundles are improvement? Like two wrongs can make it right? It still requires action and second guessing from your clients as to their future (unknown) data requirements.

Seriously, bundles are for pre-paid clients.

For billable, contract clients what is wrong with paying a fair price for pay-as-you-go data? Administratively, it has to be so much easier to operate than this bundle bundle BS.

As an example:
Charge me something like 80c/MB for the first 100MB usage for the month. 50c/MB for the next 500MB, 40c/MB for the next 500MB. 30c/MB for the next 1GB. 25c/MB thereafter. No need whatsoever for bundles and rollovers.

Bannish those rapacious out-of-bundle rates. It just makes thngs very nasty, and leaves a bitter, ripped-off taste in your clients' mouths. Those appalling rates just smack of corporate greed.

I want a fair deal without the restraints. Why bind your clients in meaningless bundles?

Just open up the MTN data super freeway, dude. Delight your clients and you won't look back.
