Prepaid Electricity refund

Hi I live in Welkom. I got R 3000 electricity in April since the cost was increasing and had recharged the meter. Now my company says I have to leave to Johannesburg. When I went and complained the same to Matjehbeng Municipality here, they say it can't be taken out.

Can someone suggest me how to get back my money? I will be very greatful.

Are you renting in Welkom, or do you own the place? If you are renting, then try to sell it back to your landlord, or to the next tenant.

If it's your own place, and you are going to rent it out to somebody else, include it as part of the deal. If you are selling your place, sell it with the electricity included.

I don't think that you can get a refund for any prepaid services - same as airtime.

Try asking your municipality if they can transfer the funds to another account in Welkom, maybe a friend or somebody willing to buy it.

Also, do YOU own the meter? Did you pay for installation? Maybe try to sell the whole meter with the bundled electricity (if possible).?

I think he should rather have spent his money on gass or solar powered appliances instead of prepaid ripoff electricity..
