I got 30 on install - wondering if this is normal?
Also notice on FNB, you can claim free units if eligible;e ?

No you don't.
The 30 on install is just to give you time to buy a topup
 
Just to update - I bought R500.00 worth on the 1st April ... it costs me (roughly) the same as March?
Wasn't there supposed to be an increase ?

So I've noticed something :

Although the cost of the units was the same at the start of the month, I seem to use far more on a daily basis - and nothing has really changed consumption wise.

I only had this installed early March and I used 10 units per day. I think most of this month has been 12.5 to 13

winter is coming.
perhaps outdoor floodlights on day/night sensor ?
also colder, geyser works harder

Is it just you? Cause with my family it's normally about 12 to 15.

No lights or anything extra... I guess the geyser theory could be right - it's a lot of extra power though. I guess I need to check against a warm day soon!

And it's weird - I don't feel I run that much - maybe less because I don't cook.

They say the largest consumers are geyser and stove :

Stove - I don't cook. I use Fitchef most the time
Geyser - one shower
Microwave - one 2 minute warm up
Kettle - 2 boils per day

All my lights are LED
I have a PC on sleep most the day
I have a small deep freeze (60kWh pm)
My entertainment system (50kWh pm)
A standard single door fridge
A tiny little pump for a water feature 6hrs a day

Washing etc happens once a week and excluded from the above figure
 
Ten units for a single guy is high, I mean we peak at 17 with the pool pump running and 2 extra kids in the house.
We used to have an old fridge and deep freeze that we got rid of, that shaved off about 3 a day. The newer ones use about 300 to 600 a year. Check your fridge as if the seals are worn it'll chew electricity. The geyser at 55 degrees will use less as well.
 
And a unit is a made up Eskom figure? Or doesn't correlate to anything like kwh etc?
