Prepare for Eskom load shedding tonight

There is a high likelihood that Eskom will implement Stage 2 load shedding this evening (8 January) in order to replenish water resources for its pumped storage schemes and to minimise the use of diesel at its open cycle gas turbines.

Still can't believe that "posting of matric results throughout the day and evening" was accepted as a reason for loadshedding between 1-6 am this morning.

WTF?

Wait.....what!?

Is that really the justification used for loadshedding this morning?

yip load-shedding is suspended due to matric results.

and miraculously, when the ANC is campaigning for reelection, nobody even remembers load-shedding.
so its all a joke then, nothing to do with keeping the system going,
its all about how they feel like if their bonuses are paid or not.

The reason they started loadshedding only at 1am, and not earlier, was for the students to get those newspapers at midnight, else they would have started it earlier to replenish pumped storage, not use diesel (and maybe get more diesel).

I'm flabbergasted. Chuckling to myself right now but also flabbergasted. Not sure how those two things are even related. Oh well, pointless trying to make sense of it I guess.

Do I need to give you time to read my post, or have you read it and still do not see the link?

Does the possibility of me not having read your post because I was compiling my last post when you posted yours not exist in your little world or perhaps it does and you feel a tad too entitled to care?

the way it was posted made zero sense, they should have explained it properly.
Plus this too. It helps when one is better equipped to get a point across with less vagueness. All i got from the sunbird guys post was something about newspapers that need to go out before midnight. As to how these midnight paper runs are related to the loadshedding still escapes me. But, as long as the sunbird dude gets it - thats all that matters.

That is why I asked if you had read it yet... duh! Reading comprehension.

In the end it means is that they didn't build up as maintain/much as reserves as they would have liked and have to start earlier today

It's so the matric writers don't have to travel in the dark in some areas (less safe obviously) to get their results from the newspapers (I'm assuming a lot do, which don't get it via SMS or app).

So they can allow people in the country in general to risk their lives at peak times in traffic or in "dark areas" as well as not give two flying figs about the economy of the country, but alas to allow the Matrics to get their results (at midnight nogal) they will bend over.

why don't the matrics just wait until load shedding is finished (since everybody else has to come to a standstill for it) and then go get their results. Its not like reading your results at midnight or at 06H00 is going to change the outcome.

It does not make sense. And how we just have to accept these reasons is scary.

How did you get you matric pass results? What time are the newspapers with matric pass results delivered? First use memory, and then use logic from there.

I did not stay up till 12 to see if i had passed, i can't recall exactly but i think i used a digital channel. Either way a power outtage wouldn't have prevented anything in various areas, my cellphone still works as does the network for sometime, garages are still open with generators etc. logic.

They easily could have said load shedding will be delayed by 1 hr from 12pm to allow for matric results to be received after which loadshedding will commence from 1-6.
