Pretoria WUG

Yesterday I was in around Church Square and I had access to WiFi network with internet connection. I am just wondering how you guys are doing it. Thanks anyway.
 
Think its time for a *bump* :D

For those WUGGERS on here that don't know yet, the legendary bot Frikkie, has been remade!

And its back on IRC providing lulz for everyone.

Church square and technikons in pta are getting free Wi-Fi. I forget what they calling it but its a government initiative.
It's not wug.

Got myself a place in Eco Park, top story, should have great LOS.

Can someone explain how this whole thing works and what the benefits are?
 
Is Pretoria WUG still on going? I am toying with setting up. What are the initial costs?
 
Please could somebody help me setup!

I have great LOS, just need to purchase equipment and get on the network.
My network has a Ubiquiti EdgeRouter which I would like to connect to. The radio will be mounted basically 1m out the window.

Hi Xera, no it will not work. UBNT AC gear can only connect to other AC gear at the moment. This could potentially be fixed by a firmware upgrade from UBNT in the future. Hopefully some of the WUG high sites will eventually be upgraded to AC and then you should be able to connect. It would be nice if the WUG guys chose to go with UBNT equipment for the upgrades. :)
 
Guys, funny thing happend to me last night... i plugged in my friends modified Wifi dongle in my pc and i could pick up the PTAMESH :O was blown away ! but it doesnt want to connect :( anyway that i can make it connect?

Get onto the irc channel. irc.ptawug.co.za and join #ptawug
