Looks like the above tower is being commisioned/built. It used to be just a 3-cell Cell C tower, but it now has new antennas that are being mounted on to it, appart from the exising 1800MHz antennas.

Over the last 2 days my signal to tower 22 La Montagne has dropped from 24% to 8%, without moving the modem. anyone on the same tower notice something similar?
 
That happens to me when somehow I get connected to another node. I need to reset the modem and manipulate the location of the modem to get my normal node connected again.
 
I'm also on Tower [22] La Montagne, Pretoria. I'm on nb2, which nodeb on you on? My signal strength is still about normal - can't see exactly what it is without disconnecting, but there are still four lights on the modem. However, I have had quite a few disconnections and signal blackouts over the last week.
 
Reset the modem as in, shorting the 2 pins on the back of the modem or switching the modem off and on again?
 
I have (almost) no words... At least I'm only paying 650 for my 3kbps and not 850 as John Peters! Have any of you ever tried to log a complaint? You get issued a "ticket" number after which the support guys have a competition to see how many of them can call you back over a period of three weeks just to ask if you still have the same problem. (Let's keep on phoning, maybe the problem will go away! Hey, guys?). Thanks for having the whole company to phone me, guys! Now could anybody sort out my problems? And please don't send that poor kid to my house again! Letting him stand naked in Sandton Square will be less embarrassing. I almost thought I'd be kind and kill him!

strange? maybe not really...

Tonight I did my twice daily reset of my IPWireless modem and suddenly found to have a signal. Yup I am online from <b>Eldoraigne</b>. Have to say that it looks like the Hennopspark tower is alive then? That is the very good news.

For the rest: my speed still sucks at 4KB/s from kernel.org... maybe the uplink from here is not 100% yet?

I am in Eldo 3. Just next to Mulders Mile.
 
I was on the other side at the lower end of Ireland Road. Close to Saxby. Had signal in June but only from tower 36. Too far to connect. Will be great if The Hennopspark tower is active, since I'm moving back from Jhb to centurion next year :)

MENLO PARK CONNECTION TROUBLES

Is anyone else having trouble connecting to the Menlo Park tower this morning (4/8)? Spoke to the call centre and everything is apparently working, but the connection went down last night some time and refuses to reconnect. Tried resetting and all those nice things a few times already.

Or has my modem decided to just give up now?

After the latest attempt, it can connect to QQ, but nothing else?

I wish I knew what was going on today! Sitting at the office and trying to talk the people at home through it is driving me batty. I wonder if someone hasn't swiped my log in details somehow? It looks like it connects and then immediately disconnects. At least, from the QQ screen that keeps activating from home onto my work machine :).

Better sig? :-)

EDIT: Yay! It seems to have now connected and is working. Not very fast, but it is alive! MWHAHAHAHAHA [:p]

Think La Montagne changed from 22 to 116. Now, the getting out of the RSA thing.....take the N1 north, you should be hitting the Musina border post before I've d/l'ed 10 MB on THIS BLOODY CONNECTION !!!!!

Does anyone have connectivity along Rooihuiskraal Weg in Centurion ?

I guess this would have to be Samrand tower or Hennopspark.

Any of these towers operational yet ?

Samrand does not seem to be on the planning anymore.

I used to complain about Zita Park.. when ? etc etc.

So I never got connected!! What a blessing cause I would certainly also have been locked in a 2 yr "Page not found" contract.

I'm guessing they are not giving too much attention to building new towers at the moment!!

i can get out again - glad u feel better would take me a lot more to feel better with this here then on then off connection :((((((

btw - does any1 of u have a better signal than 30% and if so what happens 2 the ber thingy?
 
If I take the wife's laptop and take a stroll outside with the patch antenna, my info changes from 21/13/71 to 39/19/71 (Signal/SNL/Ber) with the upper SNL figure changing from the mid 90's to the low 80's. So it looks like above a certain signal strength, BER isn't affected anymore, while SNL could be. I don't feel like putting in the effort (and $$$) to move the antenna outdoors, since it does nothing performance/stability wise. BTW, I'm about 300m from the tower, but a fair bit below it

Yes- this tower is live. It is the one that I am using...
