Previous house owners still using our address

We bought a house from the bank almost three years ago. The previous owners still use our address for FICA purposes and we constantly receive their mail from banks etc. I return most of the mail and let the companies know, but these last letters from the bank to them confirming their new bank accounts with a branch in another town is just the last straw for me. How do I stop this? Last Christmas gifts bought online from Kalahari were even delivered to our house and they had the arrogance to send the security patroller to fetch it for them. I suspect they tell people we are only renting from them.
 
Open mail. See how broke/rich they are. Throw mail away. When gifts arrive, keep it and say it was never delivered. End of story.

Open all the mail and throw it away.

For deliveries that are sent to you but for them... keep them and return the security patroller with an invoice for storage and handling.

I thought about keeping the gifts, but it was addressed to their child and from an aunt that lives overseas. Me and my soft heart... :banghead:
 
I would keep the Kalahari stuff... that will be the last time they ever send something to my address ever again

Thats why I said send an invoice for storage and handling... minimum charge of R500.
 
Maybe I must just phone the bank and tell them off for accepting false proof of address...

I would definitely be contacting the banks fraud department.. because what they are doing is fraud.

You open yourself to a lawsuit. You are not named as the recipient and if you take delivery you do so wrongfully. The nly course of action is to not take delivery by saying "Person/s unknown at this address".

Simple, really.

As an aside, does anyone know what happens to RTS mail? For example, would the bank be obliged to follow up with the account holder to get the new address when multiple statements are RTS'd? I have 3 or 4 previous tenants worth of mail arriving at my flat and I RTS it all- sometimes the mail stops coming, sometimes not... (could be they eventually updated their address themselves)

I take the envelopes, mark them RTS/No longer at this address, place them in a large envelope WITHOUT a stamp and send it back. Works like a bomb.

how will they prove its me that took their stuff?
 
We still receive letters from the last owners of our property. The just land up in the bin. Mind you, we've never received gifts, just ordinary post which doesn't even get opened.

I'd do the same if I were you an just return the gifts to the delivery guy saying you have no idea who the person is.
