Previous house owners still using our address

What happened to ordinary civic and social good sense? Surely it's not too much trouble to simply mark the post RTS (Return to Sender) with the words "Unknown at this address" or some such, and pop them in the post? This the least we can do for our fellows. We all know how easy it is to forget to let everyone know when one moves.

The world would be so much better if we all took a little trouble to be accommodating, helpful, and kind.

Unfortunately this does not seem to work.

Either the Post Office does not bother to return them. (My best guess)

Or the Company ignores the returned mail.

The biggest culprit seems to be Direct Axis. They must be one of the PO biggest clients.

same to me as when I moved to address as the mail still coming to me for like 9 years as the previous owner emirgrating to USA so dont know his contact or address.

I'm still getting the previous owner's letters. He passed away in 2007 & I only bought the house in 2010. I used to send them back marked *deceased*... they still post them. So I use the letter for firewood these days
