Price check on a 350D

Hey guys,

A mate of mine is interested in my Canon 350D with 1GB memory card, the stock 18-55mm lens and a nice Lowepro bag.

How much would you sell it for?

Its just over a year old and the reason I'm flogging it is I want to buy a smaller camera I can take on overseas trips without too much hastle.

You'll probably regret flogging it. Why not buy a cheap DC for your travels? Or get a compact camera bag.
 
Check here for 2nd hand camera sales but I agree - get a second compact camera and keep the 350D. Those compacts just cannot beat a DSLR.
I would say R4500 compared to other cameras on the above site if you really want to sell it.
 
Thanks guys. The thing is, it's hardly ever used because of its size. If I'm out and about its not something you can pull out and take a few quick snaps with and I dont have the money to invest in better lenses to appreciate the artistic factors of photography.

What are you leaning towards then, a cellphone camera?

Cellphone camera's are like taking a picture though a steamed up car window in low light.

Get a good quality compact like the Canon Powershot G7. It is small and strong enough to fit in a jacket pocket.

Well, it's good to see things have improved then.
 
The Ixus are nice, but when you are indoors in low light taking pictures of people, you will wish you had the larger lens and longer zoom of the G7. Go and have a look at a camera shop. Take along a card and take some test photo's, make the staff earn their commission!

See if you can maybe get a Canon Powershot G6 then. Nice fast lens and best of all it offers you RAW.
 
The powershot A640 lacks the following compared to the G7

The G7 has a Image stabilizer lens
Only a 4x zoom (G7 has 6x)
The G7 has got a faster processor Digic 3 vs Digic 1.
The G7 has got a transreflective LCD screen making it usable in direct sunlight.
Most important of all, the G7 lets more light in though the lens translating directly into better pictures.

R2000 cheaper yes, but not a "little lower" spec. Sorry JohnnyQ,
At R2000 cheaper it is a good buy non the less.

But for someone used to a 350D, the G7 would give you most of the performance and features you are used to, but in a compact form and a very strong chassis.
 
Just got the Canon A570 IS - awesome camera. I know its not an SLR, but the image quality is tops, and can do full Manual control.

Price around R2200.00 you can't beat it
