Pricing?

Coming soon, hoping 1Gig, 3Gig and 7Gig may be the first packages, hopefully more packages will be made as more research is done to determi the needs of the users out there :p

We are entities called "customers" - we are not "users"

iburst, thanks for posting here, but I do have a request - please convey to WBS that we are "the users out there", moreover we happen to be customers and not "users" nor are we guinea pigs, so please make sure that we have an official email from WBS no later than 1st April that details the various package options, and that is not an April Fools Joke.

I feel I should add that WBS have shot themselves in the foot by totally ignoring the lot of us "users" - all this time WBS could be listening to what we have been telling them - specifically what we WBS' target market actually want, instead WBS will probably go pay markinor to survey 3 of us iBursters & totally mess it all up...

An entry level package at R300 (1GB) wouldn't be bad at all so long as customers are guaranteed 64k after they hit the cap. I'd definately consider a package like that.

ic, I support u there. WBS needs to do proper market research and not ignore the most important users, us (MyADSL members). They should liase with rpm to conduct a survey or something.

Excuse me if I've mispelled (mispelt?) a few words. Too many drinks on a Sunday can mess up your typing skills.

Shaun Green asked repeatedly to meet with people from this forum. That never happend due to certain members of this forum harping back to the sentech CUG meetings and effectively using that to block the process. You now accuse WBS of ignoring their customers.

All i can say is some people are impossible to please.

The issues that were going to be discussed was not related to pricing structure or their "target market". It was aimed at technical issues and general speak about what they SHOULD do in terms of cap/customer support etc.

Shaun has no power over what the marketing department deemed "worthy" as pricing, and he himself exclaimed numerous times that he's fighting for a 10 gig package instead of a 3 gig one, but has had no such luck. This shows me the extent to what Shaun's "power" is regarded at WBS.

The only way is to "wait and see" and yet, you guys go on and on about this the whole time. It's less than 4 days time now. WBS is not only GOING to shoot themselves in the foot with this, but if I find that after I'm capped the speeds are unacceptable and that they still shape torrents, I will rather start saving up for some stamps, because that would be the best way to communicate from now.

Daveogg, I agree to disagree with you there.

As you wish Dave, your opinion is your own, just as mine is my own, and I disagree that any such meeting was ever turned down by forumites, in fact the whole discussion about such a meeting of the minds died when Shaun was in hospital, and has not really been rekindled since.

I think it is pertinent to add that asking Shaun for such a meeting since he got himself back to work, would probably get you a response similar to:
we are too busy preparing for launch - I do not have the time - maybe after launch...

AFAIK we are still waiting for Shaun to tell us whether he will participate in an IRC chat, or what he wants to hear from forumites, or what caused the frequent disconnections problem, or the pricing & packages, and the list goes on and on and on...

BTW, if I know WBS like I know other companies (like Sentech) their "market research" won't include what the "user" wants, but rather start AND stop at what their competition's asking price is for the same service.

And seeing as Telkom ADSL's 3 gig package includes international and local uploads and downloads (and  the same thing WBS is offereing only at faster speeds) They would PROBABLY try and undercut Telkom's pricing.

So I guess if you pay around R300 for a 3 gig package, I'd expect to pay R100 per gig from WBS. Not making them cheaper, but more convenient.

Their selling points would be "mobility" and "faster than ADSL"

In that respect their is absolutley zero innovation within WBS, neither any imagination. Damn, if I were a D&D character my int/wis/cha would be maxed out to 18 for a human......

btw, except for the cost layout per tower... they are not susceptable to cable theft or replacements. Which would make WBS profitable very soon I guess.

hrm... wouldnt it be cool if there were a credit card swiper on your modem so you could just swipe your card and get instant bandwidth :D

Do you think they will have a system on ther inet site that would be as simple as saying add more bandiwidth to my account... and do you think it will be secure?

no and no.
the company building thier web site sucks, i wouldn't think they could put together anythign like that, good question though, so we can buy more gibs, but how?
