Johannesburg - A 41-year-old priest from Kempton Park was arrested for speeding on the R21 highway near Olifantsfontein, Gauteng traffic police said on Tuesday.

"The priest was travelling with his silver Mercedes Benz C350 at an average speed of 174km/h in a 120km/h zone when we caught him," police high speed unit spokesperson Bushapi Nxumalu said.

The priest allegedly said he was speeding because he was late for a church meeting in Irene.

He would face charges of reckless and negligent driving at the Tembisa Magistrate's Court, Nxumalu said.

Holy S H I T!

So are we going to report every time someone gets nailed for speeding?

Apart from a priest doing 174 what exactly is the point of wasting our time? Are priests not allowed to speed?

That was my first thought. It seems religion is quite profitable these days. Nice.

Now that I think about it, this is so true... Most prominent church-leaders control budgets that can run small countries nowadays... I'm sure Swaziland would love to exploit some of Barnabas Lekganyane's ZCC spoils... How about the multi-millionaire Shembe family of the Nazareth church? I should have been a priest... And word has it that congregation women are nice to priests... really really nice...

Sure they are and that was actually going to be my initial comment but then I noticed the car the dude was cruising around in. What the heck is a priest doing with such a lekker car man. Surely he could have made do with an economy model and instead spent the money helping those in need? Isn't that supposed to be the whole deal with priests?

stretch your imagination... there are a couple elements to this story... the obvious speeding being one and the other being the luxury car the priest was driving...

I think we all know church stuff is a business, if other people are willing to spend their hard earned cash on the church i don't see the issue. He is a business who drives a nice car and got caught speeding

OMG this is so wrong!!!!!!!!!! how could he, OMG nooooooooooooooo :D.

Good point korn, i am sure the OP must have some inside info as to what the priest does other than preach :D. Perhaps he runs his own business? I am sure the OP checked it out though.

Wait until the church folk cry foul and they will most probably pay his fine....that's how they brainwashed.

Problem is that churches are not supposed to behave like businesses. This is why they don't pay tax.

Religion pays, my friend is studying to be a priest over in Italy just because of the power and ease of lie. He says they pay for EVERYTHING including car(s), houses etc as you continue to climb the charts.

If you want funds, religion is STILL the best scam to run.
