Priest vs Pally

On this topic.

I overheal a crap load on my Druid as I try and anticipate damage and try and keep the Tank as full of HP as I can. (Mana is no issue on a druid :p)

This is in 5 man dungeons.

Is it a problem?
Nope. I'm on ~60% overheal in raids. Keep those HOT's flowing and everybody will be happy.

Yes it is a problem. Nerf druids :D

Seriously, Druids and Shammy's make better raid healers than paladins as well imo.

Ofc, you will get the odd player of whichever healing class who is well geared and can heal "out of his speciality". To say that the average paladin makes a good AoE healer is just plain wrong. You also get priests/druids/shaman who are so well geared and know there stuff so well that they could keep a paladin unemployed as well, but that is not the norm.

Also, mobility and hots.
Priests (esp. Disc) have them.

This argument is dumb.

haha, dont know what priest class you are playing buy my priest has **** all mobility (brb crippling poison).

Also renew is complete pants as disc

2k healing to each ? or 2k spread over 5 ? You holy light would have to average 20k heal to achieve that. Your base healing at lvl80 is about 5.5k. So your spell power is +15K ?

8 yards too small to be affective.

Most boss fights require raid to spread out.

Prayer of Healing has 30 yard range. With the PoH Glyph all targets affected get an additional HoT for 20% more.

Prayer of Mending jumps to another target in 20 yards. Jumps up to 5 times.

Circle of Healing heals 5 within 15 yards. Its instant cast but has a 6sec cd, but this is compensated for by it being a "smart" spell as it heals those with the lowest health.

Thats called AoE healing.

Priests are excel at AoE healing. Paladins excel at single target healing. Druids excel at raid healing with their HoT's. All of them can do what the other class excels at, but not as well.

Well that's my point. Pointless math is pointless. It's more about mechanic, about versatility. Priests have healing depth. Paladins don't.

Op druid :)

Look healing is very situational and some classes are just better than others in some situations and things.

BUT Twin Valks is def a druid fight :)

11300 HPS ftw

Overheal all you want as long as you:

1) Do not go OOM when you are needed most
2) Keep your assigned recipients alive (unless of course they are being idiots)
3) Do not pull aggro due to overhealing / spam healing etc.

But as a druid, going OOM should basically never be a problem. In fact, you tend to get 'bored' with your assigned targets and start to do other things during the raid (/dance, drop a wrath / moonfire etc.). But this was a few months ago and things might have changed since.

and we all thought the dancing tree animation was the tree casting some heals. silly us. lol

I'm full purples on my frost mage and have pvp'ed for a number of years. A few months ago I found a blue geared pala running around Honor Hold Keep pawning all the mobs so thought it was gonna be easy pickings. I just could not take him down, tried over and over but he just never seemed to run out of mana and hit like a truck.

I don't duel pala's anymore, even in BG's I avoid them like the plague and would rather go one on one with a lock, at least you know it'll be a fair and close fight. I'm sure I could let my 5yo niece run around BG with a pala and she'd smack everything into tomorrow :)

Should try sheeping him and spellstealing as many buffs as you posibly can,if he trinkets ice lance and resheep. (Winter's Chill effect) Then pop W/E and throw a nice shater. The Shater would be FB(+ elemental nova) --> Cspell -->IV --> Deep Freeze --> FB--->FB--> Ice lance (If you've got enough haste stacked.) He might trinket outa deep freeze though, then just use FBrank1 after a rank 14(I Think) and keep kiting him around, till he gets close, nova, and try get a shatter down.
Use IMP C/spell right before deep freeze so he can't HoF it. If he does cleanse the pet nova insanely fast (Rarely seen that happen though) use FBrank1 to get more Winter's Chills up. After that, just keep kiting and try spellsteal as much as you can. Then when cspell, deep freeze, and FoF are up just Shater his ass into the next world :)
Retri pallys aren't that hard to beat with a frost mage. Well, the ones who aren't insanely skilled... Just make sure you blink hammer. =P Or seal of Command is going to be raping your cloth ass. Also, using Frost/Ice armor is a must. Less damage and snares him, even lowering his AS.

I have a lvl 80 pally, and having just vendored a full set of lvl 219 healing gear I can honestly say, pallies are for tanking

I got 9.9/10 there. Wow does make you lazy, cant even spell out the word properly. Though that would take twice as long >.<

I dunno. I have a 80 pally as well, while it is recently leveled I do try to keep healing gear I get my hands on if no one else wants. Generally though my main specs on it is Prot and Retri. I find myself 90% of the time in Prot mode.

In Retri (Offspec) I find that I just DPS using 2 or 3 buttons. And overall Retri DPS sucks in PvE. When I'm tanking Protection (Mainspec) I actually have fun as I need to hit so many buttons I need to also use my mouse to click some to keep everything flowing nicely.

Retri is borring for one, and pretty low on DPS. I have an almost full Healing set all Epic, but have never healed with my pala once appart from topping up my health while leveling. So I'm too scared to even try it :D

Retri = Mash CS/DS/judgement/Exorcism as they come off c/d.

Prot = Use a 9/6/9 rotation.

A 9/6/9 rotation basically means you mash an ability with a 9 second c/d then an ability with a 6sec c/d and continue that indefinitely. Taunt or use a c/d when needed.
