hi guys i need some help
need to get a printer to be used in a non profit organisation
can anybody educate me as to inkjet VS laserjet.. i know inkjet ink refills are expensive but is it the same for laser? which would be better for printing mostly black and white text?

Laser Definately i would say for printing black and white text.

They aren't really that expensive and even if you get a colour laserjet i find the picture quality comparable IMHO.

The new Xerox 6110 colour laser was advertised recently for R1499 (Game), which is cheap and has a resolution up to 1200x600. I've no idea of the quality. HP do a 2014 or 2015, which are workhorses.
Xerox has a smaller B&W one (3124) for R599.
Maybe also look at the Samsung range.

HP reckons colour inkjets are now the standard for the office. To my mind the cartridges don't last long, especially if you leave them a long time. Expect to pay roughly the same for new cartridges as you will for a new printer + 1/2 a cartridge (standard practise )

Make sure you check on the price of the toner cartridges before you buy - I bought a Lexmark colour lazer printer and the refills were about r1200 each and it takes four!

Needless to say its now the office dust magnet which is almost ok due to the crappy job it did with colour graphics.

lol
I was pricing the cartrdges for a R1600 HP inkjet yesterday. It was a choice of throwing in only R100 more to get a new updated printer with half-full cartridges or replacing both the B&W and Colour sides!!
