If you have problems installing a printer with supplied software, Macs have the former Unix utility, CUPS (Common Unix Printing Service) installed and printers can be managed in this way. For access to this, type the numbers 127.0.0.1:631 into your browser.

Former? Good interface though - I've been using it for years on various UNIX systems.
