So i want to get a new printer at work. it will mainly be used to print A3 pages with aerial photos of sites etc etc. I have a canon i9950 which is refusing to print Cyan, so i presume the print heads have failed. Speed is not so important, just the price / amount of prints before replacing the cartridges. I have a HP plotter which is amazing at printing large prints as it doesnt seem to use any ink !!!!

Which printer (inkjet ?) will be best, and it needs to be able to print on CD's as well

Thanks in advance

The print heads are usually part of the cartridge - perhaps a new cyan would sort out the problem?

I am rather partial to the Epson Photo Stylus printers A3+ and they do CD too.

Canon printers normally have the print head separate from the ink

I would rather suggest to the OP to contact Canon in his area and arrange to have the printer serviced.

Yes, most canons have the head directly on/in the printer. there are a few exception. Printers that use the PG40 & CL41 cartridges for example, but they are generally in the minority.

The OP would have to look at getting his printer serviced & the head cleaned or replaced. Alternatively he shoul buy another printer as he suggested.

@OP : Does the printer need to print directly onto CD/DVD's or do you print labels?

@ChilliGirl - I have contacted Canon and is awaiting a reply. But I would like to get a new printer, as the technology is probably better nowadays. Printing directly onto CD/DVD my preference, or is labels better ? Will not be doing a lot of printing onto disks.

Printing directly to disk will make the required printer more expensive. If you will not be utilising this function often then rather settle for printing labels. I quite like using the labels from TOWER. they supply you with a spacer to make placement of the labels easier.

Printheads are easily changeable - if you can't do it - take it to someone like PartServe or printer company on your vicinity.

 NOT partserve! should be named part nightmare

Rather find an independent printer repair company in your area that has been going for at least 2 years or more.
