I want to be able to print to a printer that is shared on a Windows 7 PC.

I dont want to use PrintShare..

I tried PrintBot but I think that needs an actual print server with IP address to work. Is there an option to print to a shared windows printer.

I am using Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Samsung galaxy S2 - not rooted.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

TIA.

You should be able to print to an IP I think. That's how it works at my house. Sorry if it doesn't help :/

As far as I know you need a Samsung printer. Well according to Samsung, but maybe there is a way around that.

Is your phone linked to your home wifi?

Yup all phones / PC's Tablets linked on Wifi. All devices can be "seen" as I can see shared folders etc. I have made some progress, I have installed LPD service on the PC and sort of got it to work with a shared Primo PDF printer - will now try with HP printer.

OK, I got it to work. Loaded LPD service on the PC. Then ran "Print Management" (Thank you google) from there you can manage your print server. I added the printer using the USB001 port to the print server and gave it a simple queue name. Then via PrintBot on the droid, I used LPR (lpd://192.168.1.11/HPShare) - IP is IP of the PC and it worked. PrintBot only prints certain doc types like images and PDF's not docs from polaris office - but this will work for now.
