Anyone else feel like this?
I hate it when I get a phonecall from a private number.
The past week I've had three from telemarketers and one that just phoned twice, put the phone down both times when I answered. I've decided to start screening them - I'm actually wondering if there is any way you could get calls from private numbers blocked.
I don't care who you are - if you don't allow me a option to identify you - I'm not answering.

What phone you got? most have blacklist apps to drop calls. IE, a blacklisted number (or private/withheld/unknown) connects to your device and the app answers the call then drops it immediately, leaving them without the option of even voicemail.

Many companies still use LCR systems that do not display the number. I know our phones at work go out like that when you phone a mobile but land line would be direct.

There are even apps that will block calls from numbers stored in a global blacklist database of telemarketers. Can't remember the name, but it was on Android.

On the S4 I can block private calls, it drops them without you knowing. It shows in your call logs after. I also have TrueCaller installed, it sometimes helps identify who is calling when you don't have the number in your contacts. Haven't played around with it that much though.

For a very long time, my work phone (a Cisco IP Phone) would show "Private Number" or "Unknown" whenever I called outside the company. I would have to warn my family via BBM or email in advance that I was going to call them and that it was me and they should answer, otherwise they simply don't.

I complained enough times to our IT guys that they eventually took the time to change the setting that blocked our outgoing numbers from displaying. Now if I call my family from my office phone they can see my number.

So it's really easy to do - it just has to be done. Everyone calling me from a blocked number these days WILL be ignored, because I know that they probably choose to do it that way.

Cell-C have had MyTools which allows you to block private numbers (or specific numbers) before they even reach your phone, for a couple of years now. It's a pity the other networks don't offer anything similar:

I'd like ADT Security to change this strategy, if an alarm is triggered they call you from a Blocked/Private number, thus meaning that i have to answer all calls from a PVT Number, unless im at home, and know that the Alarm has not been triggered! and my Gripe is that since i have my little girl at home, and when my phone rings and its from PVT Number, already i get the chills!!
