I've been held up at gunpoint once, held up at knifepoint a couple of times, physically assaulted whilst just taking a walk on the beach and had my home robbed three times. Once while I was home, even. Oh, and had a bicycle stolen from a shopping mall. Was my only transport at that stage. Not to mention shootouts down the road from where I work and Eskom's problems making my working life hell. Personal experience.
