Yes, excuse me, because I'm pretty sure this is a daft question...

...but I'm looking at UPS', and they all seem to have 4 PC connections at the back.

Is there some sort of UPS I can buy the sits inbetween the wall and the phone line/router/switches?

Someone suggested cutting off a power cable end and fixing that to the power cords of those devices, but seriously, that seems like the idea of a drunkard.

Thanks, N.

cut off an extension cable and rewire that is the only way
You can also get the multiplug heads for extension cords at most hardware stores. Then you can cannibalise a male/female computer power cable.

but once you have done that, be carefull of what gets plugged into it

Will cut and fix PC ends to the router/switch power cords, and plug those into the UPS.

What about the phone line/network cables?

In terms of phone lines / network cables:
I've found that the surge protectors on UPS's for phone lines don't last very long. Rather go with an external surge protector that plugs in to a wall socket - at least those are easily replaced. I also have a surge protector box that fits inline on the network cable between my modem and my firewall. Got tired of replacing the NICs in the firewall whenever the modem got blown. It was over 200 bucks for the thing though. Hope it works. :p

Thanks everyone.

I'll save up some cash and go stock up on bits and pieces.

Looovely...Eskom costs us more every day. *rolls eyes*
