Hi I have been trying to access tvcountdown.com (its a page I frequently visit to see what's showing overseas) and the last few days have been unable to. I just noticed I can access it fine on my Blackberry's browser so the site itself doesn't seem to be down but using Iburst on FF and IE (on multiple PCs) I get no joy. Other international pages I can't really comment on since most of my stuff is local so not sure if that's the issue?
Randburg area.

Works for me. Do you get an error message?

Hi ginggs I get "Firefox can't find the server at www.tvcountdown.com". As I say, same issue on 3 different computers which all up to a few days ago could access the site just fine...

Doesn't work for me either in Chrome, Firefox or IE.

My guess is that the site is blocked for South African IP addresses. It works on your Blackberry, because the Blackberry servers are located in Canada. All web requests (in fact all/most internet traffic) first goes to the Blackberry servers, which in turn will download the page from the actual source (if it isn't cached), compress and encrypt it, and then send it to your phone.

If you check downforeveryoneorjustme.com, it reports that the site is up. downforeveryoneorjustme.com is hosted outside of South Africa, hence why it can access tvcountdown.com.

It works for ginggs who is in Cape Town... and it worked for me until recently (last few days).
Since you're in Jozi (like me) maybe that's the key - theres a JHB issue...?

Seems to be fine for me in Jhb. Please PM me the IP address you were using.
The IP address is was using is the one in the first post - tvcountdown.com - not sure what other IP address you are asking for??????? I mean I can PM you the same info?

The IP address assigned by iBurst that you were using at the time, not the IP address of the website you were attempting to connect to.

Thanks for that clarification ginggs. PM has been sent.

Still waiting for an answer from Iburst on this. I have tried releasing IP address on modem, connecting via USB Iburst modem; neither worked.
HOWEVER if I use an MTN connection as my modem then the site works therefore it has to be an Iburst thing and not any of my 3 computers. I'd really appreciate getting this sorted out please!?!

I've had no contact from Iburst at all but I now see (3PM) that it is resolved - all 3 machines now able to access the site (with no changes from my side).
Thanks for fixing it - it would be nice to know what the issue was?

OK so it's working for me now as well. I'm on a WebAfrica ADSL connection. If both iBurst and WebAfrica were having issues, could it possibly have been a peering issue some along the line?

Not sure why Rooi (Fourways) and others eg in CT would have no problem though? Also didn't realise you weren't on Iburst..

The site is erratic. It sometimes says that there was a technical error while trying to log in to view ones account. If I log in from a different computer it works. Its also just bad programming when making booster purchases and an error pops up after entering your secure code and credit card details that the transaction could not be completed; and when sending a feedback form from the error page there is no submit button. And the entire webpage feedback form is in an Iframe which doesn't have a scroll bar. Sigh -_-
