We are few Mac owners having a problem accessing iTunes Store from a Mac.

This is the problem that appeared about 5 days ago on my computer and on my friends computers.
We cannot access iTunes store from the application iTunes using MWEB as IPS. It does work when I use AXXESS IPS.
So far I can tell you that it affects all Apple MAC (iMac, MAcbook pro) whaterver system we use (MAC OS 10.6.7 or 8 "Snow Leopard" or MAC OS X 10,7,1 "Lion") whether we use a wireless or a cable connection with any Modem.
It does NOT affect the access to iTunes Store from an iPAD or an iPAD2 connected wirelessely to the same modems.

We get the following message:
"ITunes could not connect to the iTunes Sore. The network connection was reset."

Anyone else has had the same problem?
and maybe found a solution?:)

Hi Castafiore,

Please provide me with your MWEB account details and I'll investigate further.

Regards,

MWEB Guy

Same Problem

I'm having exactly the same problem for the past few days.
Can't connect to the iTunes store on my Mac.
Has a solution been found ?
Please help.

Regards,
Gavin

Check connectivity from your Mac to the DNS addresses listed in:
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3297

Alternatively temporarily disable firewall (settings, security, firewall)
Bypass Little Snitch if you have this.

Another alternative is to close iTunes and delete ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iTunes.plist and restart your Mac,

I'm having the same problem on two different mweb uncapped accounts at two different locations. It only seems to be affecting access to the iTune store from my Mac, not from my iPhone.

I have tried flushing the DNS cache and deleting the iTunes preferences plist to no avail.

I am having the exact same problem for over a week now.

MWEB Business Uncapped account.

Both Lion and iTunes are up to date.

Please fix this asap!

EDIT:

Hope this helps, this is my hosts file:

GNU nano 2.0.6 File: /private/etc/hosts

##
# Host Database
#
# localhost is used to configure the loopback interface
# when the system is booting. Do not change this entry.

isn't this because of Seacom going down? is mweb restricting traffic to Apple servers due to limited bandwidth available?

I'm also having this problem.

What sort of peering arrangement does Mweb currently have with IS? Granted, it's been a while since I last checked but IS was where the Akami servers were at the time.

Mweb guy any feedback on this problem been having endless problems since saturday keep getting

An unknown error occurred (-50) error

Please assist as IO5 is calling

Yep, same for me. Also on MWEB.

Been having this issue for the last week now.

Did anybody spoke to MWEB about it?

I can confirm this problem.

Access to the iTunes store is impossible through iTunes using a Mweb Connection.

The store is still accessible through iPhones, iPads and iPod Touches.

My specs :

Mac OS X 10.7.1
iTunes 10.5
Mweb Uncapped 1024 connection
Pretoria

I hope this doesn't limit a direct download of iOS 5, Mac OS X 10.7.2 etc tonight.

The Apple website is also still working through the computer's browser so it must be a port issue.

Apple is probably blocking certain IP ranges coming through, don't think it's MWEB. They don't want a BlackBerry situation now do they. But yeah I cant pull iTunes 10.5 off Apple.com

Mweb knows about this problem. The techie on the phone told me its internal. It's got nothing to do with the Seacom...

This is such nonsense, iOS 5 is released with a bunch of app updates and I cannot update!!!!!!!

Not happy!!

Funny things is I was testing the iOS5 BETA and my iTunes BETA 10.5 expired never updated it. I'm off to Moz tomorrow wanted to load up some stuff to my iPhone and can't now beacuse I don't have a copy of iTunes. To lazy to find a "legit" older version.

Also havin same issue..
If i log in via my 3G data card on my mac then i connect to the itunes, however via Mweb it will not connect.

Same problem here, but seems sporadic.
I can sometimes see the iTunes store podcast library, but not the App store. Sometimes its the other way around. Most of the time I cannot connect to the iTunes store at all.

I can confirm that this problem doesn't exist on my iPhone or iPad, or if I connect my MBP to the internet using a different network.
It all works fine using the connection I have at work (Vox) and through Vodacom 3G.

same issue here "We could not complete your iTunes Store request. An unknown error occured (-50)"...

Also MWEB, also from Mac...
