According to previous threads, I have EDGE at 24 Andries Pretorius Street, Somerset West. My phone also says Y'ELLO BROADBAND. I use a Nokia E70.

I have tested on 2 different dates, but I never get more than GPRS speeds?

What is wrong?

Can you please PM me your number and also do we have permission to pull your call data records to see where you logging on and what signal you should be getting?

Here is the reply from Network

Perhaps there are no edge channels available on that site, the number allocated to a cell is limited by the amount of transmission we have to the cell.

Andries Pretorius street should mainly be covered by T457 which does not have Edge active. There is a possibility of getting coverage from T1571 (2TS edge per sector) which is further away.

I understand, but then my mobile should not say Y'ELLO BROADBAND. Hopefully these sites will be 3G by end February as promised.

Some MTN guy also called me to check some things on my config. I am not at home. He sent me mail on what to check. I will report back tomorrow.

Umm,

Download the MMS settings to your phone.( I cant remember the number, #something)

I did that on my Nokia 9300, and it went from GPRS to EDGE speeds.
