I havent seen an error like this before and by searching online I couldnt find any info on this or other people having the same problem.

I just got fibre installed and when setting up the router I enter in all my details as normal. There are no error messages but it still prompts to do the internet setup wizard or the manual internet setup after I have completed the initial setup. If I try 'connect' it attempts to but then doesnt connect. If I click on 'manual internet setup' I can see that my ISP password is not the password I entered but is instead 10 characters (I cant see what it is because its just **********).

In the manual setup if I try and replace the password with the correct password and then 'save settings' that all goes through fine but it still cant connect. If I click on 'manual internet setup' again I see it has reverted back to the 10 character password.

I tried resetting to factory defaults but that didnt help. Any help is appreciated.

More than likely a bug in the firmware where it only allows passwords up to a maximum length of 10 characters, or the password contain characters the router doesn't like - I've seen stranger things before.

The firmware on most of these devices aren't the greatest. Try a different router, or try changing your password to something shorter (can't believe I just said that).

I tried just entering one digit as the password and the same thing happens.

I was given a different username/password and now its working fine. I guess it was rejecting the password and defaulting to the previous one without any error msg. Thanks for the replies.

I have a similar issue with my dlink router which wont actually store custom MAC address.

When it reboots the MAC address is still showing the custom address but internally it is actually using the default MAC address for the WAN. I need to remove, save, readd custom MAC,save. before it would actually be utilising the custom MAC address.

Pretty annoying.
