Problem with fakes on Takealot and Amazon

Issue is not just limited to Takealot & Amazon: Another e-commerce player also get's caught out on fake products.

I'm sitting with a copy of a board game from them that is as fake as R30 note at a flea-market. Bought it from the store who relies on the information from the supplier. I know this company regularly get's take down notices from certain brands for images of their products, even from years ago.


It's actually not easy to police, even I, a board game hoarder took two years to realise the boardgame was a fake copy (I only realised it while watching a stream and saw some differences).

Ordered the North Bayou Dual Monitor Desk Mount for screens sized 27"-34" (G55) from takealot.com. I received a counterfeit, non-branded product, a completely different model and design. The instruction booklet was also damaged upon arrival, and the box was full of rat droppings. A return has been logged. In the past year, I have had to return three counterfeit or knockoff products to takealot.com. There need to be better quality controls implemented.

Our local "bargain store" sells Catan and Expansions for R200 a game. I don't think it is fake.

Stop buying from Takealot - they will get the message very fast that way.

I'm not sure Takealot is entirely at fault here. The box the mount came in even showed the correct model number. Only after opening it did I see the fittings and manual were for another product and not even the branded one either. Either way, I have reported the matter to both Takealot and North Bayou SA. The product is distributed by a company named 5G Tech.
