I have a problem with Adsl, i get frequent disconnects for every 30-60 seconds. I want to know whether anyone had this kind of problem and i want to know how to solve this issue. Wiring loose contacts i checked and also replaced wires still the problem continues. How to fix it.

hi markin
i've developed the same problem over the past few days. CRC errors and random disconnects.
Telkom say my line is OK, so i'm also not sure where the problem lies?

Same here

Hi,

I've got 5 x DSL lines into my office (Rivonia JHB)

If I'm lucky I'll get 15min out of any one of them until they disconnect.

Reported the whole lot to Telkom... now I wait..........

Will keep you posted if, when and how Telkom react to my dillema

HEY!!

Im having the same problem, frequent disconnects from the internet, just disconnecting from the internut.every few minutes. I would like to know where are u guys?

Could it be the Telkom server/exchange?

Definately sounds like a Telkom problem.

I normally get a ton of CRC's when there's a storm or the wind is pumping (seriously!)

ive been having random d/cs and noticed after tracerting it looks like the exchange server i.e telkoms dns's and internet server wiring problems.

i was on 4meg ... line would hold sync for about 15s and then drop get the sync again hold it for 15 sec and then drop ... (insert loop function here) ... i dropped the line speed to 2meg and everything seemed fine ... but its starting again ... seems my line at night after 10pm drops and syncs every so 10secs ... come the morning its fine ... been dropping and syncing this morn every 2-3 minutes though ... i dunno ... there must be some pro out there that can help or give advice as to what is causing this ... btw what modems do you guys have ... i have the zyxel IAD P2602

EDIT: its been holding the sync now since i posted this ... i really dunno ...

Update

So Telkom have escalated my fault to their technical dept. I suspect they tried to call me on Sat but I wasnt available.

I'm 99% certain its cable related. When they installed the 5 x ADSL lines into my offices they installed them really badly, they are now dangling and almost touching the floor.

I'm using 4 x Draytek routers and 1 x Cicso ( IS uncapped), my lines will stay in sync for anything between 15 min to 1 hour then drop. I suppose if the lines get a strong gust of wind they disconnect

I suppose I will have to wait until Monday for their techincal repair dept to allocate a tecchie to me.

You fella's had any luck ?

ill see monday also ... one of the guys from Telkom mentioned them having to do a "LTS" test ... so will get them to do that ... real annoying ...

Adamr, what has your progress been like ?

Mine has been pathetic, the tecchies have been fantastic, coming out the next day however thats where it ends ! They call a test centre only to be told its syncing fine and then leave as they cant hang around for 20 min.

So now I still sit with the same problem, I'm not sure how to progress to get this escalated to the cabling division.

have you tried to get telkom to do.
a line quilty test on all your line??? that could also b causing the random disconnects..

do not let them tell you crap. make sure they do line quil test... they will have to phone you back or u can hold on while they do it.

also make they not just test your line to c if your ADSL router is sycning.
they luv doing this and saying your line is fine.tuning you no its your ISP then.

what are the errors in the logs on the DSL routers...?????

p.s a few things u can try also.
-check your line quilaty
-try another router
-check your filters
-disconnect everything except adsl

Hey Magneto,

Thanks for the tips. To respond to you:

Line quality - I have had the sync speed reduced to 2048 and another line to 1048 hopoing that would sort things out. It hasnt.

Another router, I have tried a Netgear ( after using Drayteks) and same story

Filters - dont use any, only used for data no voice

Have everything else disconnected, only one line into the router.
