Hi im buying a opel astra cde 1.6i 16v ecotec verry good condision but 250 000 kms on the clock is it worth it or not
Depends how it runs. My team lead sold his CDE with 345,000km on the odo and it was fine. On the other hand I have seen those 1.6i 16v Ecotec's going at well before 200,000km. Mine only blew a head gasket at that mileage and was fine afterwards.

Well if you get a good price on it then it's all good.

With those Astra G models you can easily replace the wear and tear items on the interior. I got genuine leather replacements for the gear and handbard lever hoods. Installing an aftermarket head unit is also not too difficult. Great cars, if you find one that runs well.

You get duds in every brand, this is not an Opel specific problem. If I was him I would sell the car and get a reasonably low mileage Corsa C.
Agree. I had a 1.4 Sport Corsa C that died at 422000km because I rolled it. Those water pumps last as well. Only replaced mine at about 390000km.

Hi Rouxenator - earlier in this post I see that you mention the Exhaust Sensor...My Opel 1.6 Club's engine light comes on after the car reaches the operating temperature, should I replace it. Must say these Opels a great car's and on the pocket. I bought it new in 2004...have done 360,000 with not a days problems. Servicing costs are low and nothing ever breaks. I bought this car after I traded in my 1994 1.4 Astra - what a car that was...the Opel agent who tested the car on trade in was so impressed...and that 1400 had 335,000kms. I also drive a F30 BM...but when it comes to maintenance, servicing and running costs...theres no comparison. Opels rule. I also owned 2 Opel Corsa Lite...they still running after 280,000.

I would buy a diagnostic scanner, replacing things with no basis can be costly and frustrating.

A cheap Bluetooth OBD2 scanner is a great time and money saving device.

If the check engine light comes on when the car is at running temperature it could be the O2 sensor on the manifold.
