Came home last night to find that my Billion has dropped the line sometime during the day and no matter how I try, I can't get my internet to work again.
It shows a green internet light, so I assume it is connected, and the problem lies with the Modem-PC, connection.
I tried doing a power cycle reset, but that didn't work, so I did a factory reset, but to no avail.

I also cannot get access to the modem setup screen. It just says that the page can not be opened.

Any ideas of how to fix this ?

I'm on uncapped MWeb. But I can not even access my modem settings screen.
When I run a Windows network diagnostic, it tells me that my network card doesn't have a ip adress. It have enabled DHCP, so it looks like the modem is not giving out ip adresses.

The Billion diagnostic tool it tells me that my network card has some wierd ip adress.
IP. 196.284.101.81
gateway 255.255.255.255

If I try and setup my network card from Billion tool, it says that I'm connected to another DHCP network, and should disconnect first before I can change my ip settings. I have no other network runing, and I connect directly to the router.

But does that explain why I can not access the router setup menu ?
I go to browser. Go to adress 10.0.0.2, and get the page can not be opened error.
I have tried FF & IE8, before and after the reset, but with no change.

Yes. If you do not have the correct IP address then you would not be able to connect to the router. Are you sure the DEFAULT router ip address is 10.0.0.2? If this is the case, then change your pc address to a fixed address of say 10.0.0.10 and try to connect to it.

Is this ip address correct? Or is it perhaps 169.x.x.x?

I have not changed the default ip adress for the router, that's why I said that it's a wierd ip adress that the BIllion diag. tool says I have for my network card.
I have tried changing the network ip adress to a fixed adress, but it makes no differance.

I starting to think that the router to pc portion is fried.
All the correct lights on the router is telling me that it is connected to the internet.
But there is no way to communicate with the router.
- Can't access the user menu.
- Does not give DHCP adresses.
- Does not respond to a change to fixed ip adress.
- Does not respond to a reset to factory settings.

Have you tried plugging in the network cable from the PC into one of the other 3 ports on the router?

I have, with no joy.

Also check that the corresponding light comes on for the port on the router

And yes it does.

But I have solved the problem by re-installing Win 7. Don't know what went wrong, but hope it never happens again....
