I'm not sure if this is a Vodacom or CellC issue. I suspect it's a problem with CellC but since I'm currently a Vodacom customer I'm posting here in the hope than someone (Vodacom3g?) can help sort it out.

I used to be with CellC and have an 084 number. Quite some time ago (over a year) I moved to Vodacom but kept my 084 number. I'm not sure when the problem began but recently (past few months) I've been unable to receive calls from CellC numbers. Anyone with a CellC phone who calls me gets a fast beep beep beep, number not available. Then this morning, for the first time, I received a voicemail notification from 144, which is the CellC voicemail. Obviously I can't call 144 since I'm on Vodacom.

Any ideas on how to fix this? I could call CellC support but since I'm no longer a customer of theirs I don't have a free support number and these calls can sometimes take a while!

Thanks!

This could be a problem with the routing of your call. As far as I understand it, there is a database or something like that which tells the originating network where the call must terminate. If something is not lekker on there, the call might not be able to route the call correctly. Since MNP came in, a 082 is not always a Vodacom number anymore, that is why routing calls have now become more complex. If Cell C is having issues with determining where a call must terminate, this will then most likely result in your error....however, email vodacom on [email protected] and give a detailed description of your issue. They will then have a look on your number and check that all is well on Vodacom's side. If it is, then they will escalate the query to the resolving group. Be sure to hang on to the ref number that will be mailed back to you.

Also after porting your number; change voice mailbox number from cellc to vodacom by replacing "0" with +278214 then followed by your nine numbers eg +278214 123456789
