hi all. hope this post is in the right section.

i recently have been trying to download files from a server, which uses port 8086.

i can connect to the site using vodacom 3g, but when i try using my billion 800vgt router with an axxess uncapped expressed account... nothing. cant get a connection.

so i assumed it to be either my firewall / ISP / router.
through the process of elimination, i have established that it is none of them?

firewall - i have turned off and disabled
isp - axxess have said to me that they do not block said port 8060
router - have tried resetting factory defaults, setting up virtual server & port forwarding. all to no effect.

i even reformatted and reinstalled windows onto some extra unpartitioned space i had - a clean install - and still the problem persists.

i'm really at a loss. anyone have any ideas?

Ace, found out from your ISP if you are using an L2TP uncapped account, if thats the case then your port forwading will not work. Can you ping your file server?

wow, thanks for the speed reply. yes, i can ping them. 323ms response...

and i'm using the uncapped express, not the full uncapped one. i dont *think* it's L2TP, but i'm really not sure :?
