Hi,

I was given a 3G pack from our service provider to evaluate, with Novatel U630 card, sime card and software. Now I followed the instructions, did not insert the pcmcia card until prompted by the installation software. While installing the card driver it comes up with the following error :

An error occured during the installation of this device: The driver installation file for this device is missing a necessary entry. This may be because the INF was written for Windows 95 or later. Contact your hardware vendor."

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the card several times, each time with the same result, even using the XP system restore feature to rollback my laptop to before I installed anything. Is there somewhere I can download an updated driver for this card ? Is anyone else having similar issues ?

Any help would be appreciated.

This is a well known installation problem. With the previous versions of the dashboard some .INF files did not always copy properly. You can either:

1) Read all about it in the FAQ posting in this forum or
2) Call (082)155 and they'll help you over the phone.

I'd suggest you download the latest version of the dasgboard as per the FAQ.

Good luck and tell us your observations!

Vodacom3g,

In my opinion it would be better to read the FAQ that you wrote than phoning 082 155. I phoned the helpdesk with this exact problem on one of the installations I had and they had no clue :)

Hi Chaps,

Managed to get it working, browsing with it now. Only connecting with GPRS though, I suppose there is no 3g coverage here in Mount Edgecombe, Durban.

Thanks for your assistance, and sorry for wasting your time with something that was already in the FAQ. I did actually read it first but was not sure what the new dashboard download was for. :)
