Problems Installing VMC Software & Creating Profiles

I reinstalled my laptop, download the latest V5 (using Option Card) software from web, but when it wants to create a profile I do not have any service selections in the drop down. Called 155 last weekend, they did not know what to do, but ended up getting it going configuring a dialup connection manually, but now its not working either. How do I get this going?

This is what I saw:

Bearer Type not selectable in the profile manager

Affected Version(s): VMC 4.02.01 or newer / All datacards

Description:

Some customer installations of the dashboard fail during the profile manager. After plugging in the datacard as being asked for by the software, the dropdown menu which contains the bearer information is empty. The installation can not be finished.

The reason is that one or two registry keys in

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Vodafone\Setup\NewProfile] are missing:

"Country"="United Kingdom"
"InstallType"="Personal"

I don't have my system with me to check what these keys should be, maybe another forumite can help?
 
Thanks v3g, those reg settings did not exist at all. I added them and all is working

I had a similiar problem, according to vodacom customer care, the problem was caused by the software not being installed correctly. When I put the cd in, I got an error, "The application could not run". I manully went and ran the setup from the folder on the cd. after reebot I had the problem with the service selection not being available. According to vodacom its because I did not select the county I am in, when the software first installs, I am guesing thats part is done by the run.exe file on the cd when its first run. I will try adding the reg values to the clients laptop and will see if that resloves the problem.
 
Thanks a ton for the above help. It did not work the fist time I tried it, I removed the vodafone software, and reinstalled it again, before I rebooted I added the reg keys to the pc, after reboot it worked.
 
Problem installing Vodafone Connect Software

I'm installing the Vodafone Connect PC on a brand new laptop, using the latest version of the software available on the website for the Option Card. After restarting the laptop as instructed by die installation program, I insert the Option Card and is recognised as normal by WinXP SP2. When I however try to create a profile, no "Service" options are available in Step 3 of the profile creation process. The software states the Make (Vodafone), Model (3G (UMTS) / GPRS data card – Option, but the drop down box next to "Service" is empty. If one clicks "Next", the program gives an error "Please make a selection before continuing" – but there aren’t any! Anyone seen this before and found a solution? (I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software 3 times – same thing)

I hope you can help me out. I am trying to setup a profile on Vodacom 3G. While creating the profile in the profile manager everything goes smoothly until i have to click finish to complete the process. The following comes up "an error has occured during configuration" Please try again. I have tried this on different machines with the same result. The card is a Option Card and i am using version 3 of the profile manager. Any ideas would help me out greatly....

Mams, there is a workaround for this. I've posted it before, so maybe do a search. You have to add two registry entries by hand.

Maybe try downloading v6 of the dash, from: http://www.vodacom.co.za/packages/3g/downloads.jsp
