Well I recently bought the the HUWEI E220 vodacom 3G modem, the 3.6 mb/s 1 GB p/m cap.

(1)The problem is I recently started noticing a difficulty with it connecting and picking up a WCDMA reception. We live in Musina so Im not too sure if it is that, but The only way I get it to pick up at least 1 bar of reception is if I stick it out my room window and halfway up the roof. Surely this cannot be normal.

(2) On another note once I do have reception and start playing a game online it seems to give me endless amounts of "connection errors". Which really annoys the hell out of me.

This is not what I payed for, I bought a service that I was told would be a great buy and then I end up regretting it, plus im stuck on a contract for a year. So my Question is, is there a way that I can fix up these "connection errors" or is it just something the people of South Africa (and Vodacom) users have to suffer with?

Let's start at the beginning.

Go to the coverage map on vodacom.co.za and check your exact physical address. Are you in a 3G coverage area?

Yes I am coverage is right over my house.

one of the other problems I have being experiencing is that at night from around 19:30 the modem starts to keep rapidly changing from WCDMA to HSDP. the whole time, then it says device not detected, then it detects it again. and this goes on till about 12:00. not like every minute but every now and then. I have checked to see if the modem is faulty, but there is no noticable problems.

The fact that you only get one bar OUTSIDE the house, shows a clear low signal situation. From your picture it's nor clear where you live. There could be a local anomaly affecting the signal level at your home.

Best bet would be to get a high-gain, external antenna. This will give the signal a massive boost and will allow you to use the modem indoors.

Please stop misleadng people with this.

The coverage map is NOT definitive or accurate.

The guy just told you he does not get the bandwidth, how does consulting a map change this reality???
