I have eMac and i try to format but doesn't boot from CD, i try all combination that i know (keyboard combination of keys and double click on the icon) and nothing so far.I want to install Panther, hope someone can help me.

Hold down option at startup. Make sure CD is in, of course. Does it bring up a list of available boot devices?

What OS is currently on eMac or is it already formatted?

Its Mac OS 9.1 and i want to upgrade to Panther....nothing i will try to get a new copy of OS seems like this one is not good at all or maybe is something else wrong.

do u have the problem with other CD's? if not, than it is the install cd which is damaged.. If you have problems with other CD's than perhaps ur CD/DVD drive is stuffed

No problems with other cd`s , even cdrom read this one cause i can see on my dekstop but is not booting from that cd... i will try with new cd. and see whats gonna happened.

Sounds like you have the P69 first ed eMac. The Panther CD should have a double-click to install thing. Does it? What happens when you double-click? What is on the CD? is it Panther.iso or is it the actual files that comprise the disk image?

This mac also supports tiger, btw if you give up on panther.

Check how much memory is installed, this will certainly be a factor. Panther is really old and a lot of the newer versions of software may not run on it, i.e. Safari and Firefox.
