Problems with International?

It seems the problem postings with ADSL are on a daily basis now. The service has really been going backwards over the last few months.

Yeah the QOS on adsl sux these days... i guess it would seem ok if the rest of the world was behind SA but Adsl here only appears gr8 when compared to many other african nations.
Well, come beginning of november it will feel like everything has slowed down as we all scramble to curb our usage.

Back home and was very excited to get some BF2 gaming done. But everything is dead now... Thank God i havent cancelled my sucktech connection yet. WTF Is going on??? I am wif AXXESS and I cant even browse local sites properly???

I have kept the ADSL speed test running:

http://www.tcpiq.com/tcpIQ/LineSpee...ountryId=196&ConnectionId=11300&UserId=171868

During the test stage last monthI regularly got better than the anticipated results.

However since then it has been going downhill steadily and the worst part is that from the 30th September I have been on 1024ADSL. Not that these figures would prove it. Maybe my time of testing is wrong, but surely I should see sometimes where it may approach the bought speeds. Never mind, I am saving all this for a small claims court lawsuit for fraud against Telkom's chief executive, because the service was not sold purely for local traffic to reach the promised speeds and best service effort does not mean that I can NEVER achieve what I paid for.

Your Uploads is very High compared to download. The experts could help, if they want but they normally ignore us, mostly this indicate a setting problem. MTU, TCP receive window, Etc. I have the same since I played with my settings and now even on OpenVPN get the same. So maybe Telkom Saix is screwing us somehow??. I do not want to fiddle with mine now as I am waiting for 1 Nov to see how the wind blows and then will add an internet server PC for the rest of my dwelling. Then optimise this unit for best speed and performance.

My downloads from the Telkom speed test are running perfectly though, when I try it. I would have thought that I would experience a similar problem with these downloads if there was a setting problem? I have also used dslreport.com 's recommended settings with no change in speed whatsoever. So I am reasonably convinced that it is Telkom doing it's best again to stu** everything

@Clipse any thing on your side, did You effect Your changes on 1 Oct ??

No, we havnt changed anything our side or do anything to cause slower speeds. Naturally its SAIX international thats stuffed..

As soon as we get onto our new host, we will be investigating other means of tunneling ;-)

The Telkom speed tests never gives problems, Always give a high score, I for one do not trust them as they bypass all their shaping, cooking and cheating algorithms and run, I believe on a priority basis or port to con the poeple. Running tests or real downloads from other sites locally and internationally does not give the same constant results, unless I am on FreeVpn. This is why I believe Telkom is trying their utmost best to screw the public out of bandwitdh to sell to their corporate clients. Then they quote "Best effort" on queries and BS the public whenever they can. Their reluctance to make public the contention ratios is also making me believe there is a rotten cat in the cupboard.

From about 2pm to 4pm today browsing was slow, but there. Anything else (including ping, ftp, SSH) was totally dead.

I reckon they were fiddling with port shaping again. Bastards. x10

Hey. Pupa, where are you situated, because I almost always struggle even with the Telkom speed test. Yesterday afternoon I got great speed, but earlier yesterday was very slow. Today I can't even run the Telkom speed test, something that frequently happens to me.

Yeah CPT is going up and down and up and down again...

strange thing is that my torrents are running fine.... but email/surfing and ftp are down... and its been like that the last 3 days..
