Hi, I'm a noob here! I also haven't searched yet, so apologies if this may have been asked and answered before.

I would like to find out what it is that Telkom do when I request them to upgrade my line speed. They've been telling me that someone needs to physically go out to the exchange and hence why I have been waiting so long - this is to upgrade my existing 2Mb ADSL to 4Mb. I've been waiting five days so far with no joy - is this par for the course? Is line speed upgrade not something done systematically, i.e. only a configuration change someone can do while I'm on the line?

I did this recently and it took them 2 weeks to complete the upgrade of the line.

I also upgraded to 4meg with Telkom not long ago, you just tell them and they do it. Restart and you're done.

Talk to some social media rep if you can't get through to the call centre

2 to 4 Mbps ... there should be no need for a techie to be dispatched as all DSL ports in the exchange can handle at least 4Mbps. Distance and condition of the physical copper network will be your only limiting factors.
