No Coaches coach players ;)

Like Stefan9 said:" The coach has a vote but the selection panel of 4 pick the squad, the coach and captain then pick the starting side. "

yes but a coach would pick players that would best suit his plans, it works wonders in every other sport

rather just use them as scouts who suggest players to the coach rather than pick them for him?

But in other sports the coach is the most important guy, that's not the case with cricket. The captain is the most important guy.

Yup political appointments on the way.

Honestly, how many countries have a Minister of Sports? What a waste!

And why would that be? Mike Proctor is highly respected in world cricket. Besides that, my understanding is that the entire selection panel has been relieved of their duties. This includes Craig Matthews, Winky Ximiya and Mustapha Khan. So not sure why you chose to pick on Proctor specifically. Is it because he banned Harbhajan Singh for calling Symonds a monkey?

I suppose you have facts to back it up.

Not like we have one black african in the current test team. That is a fact.

Can you name any "black african" players in domestic cricket who you feel should be there and whose place they should take? Please back it up with facts regarding their abilities.

I only hear white people talking that there is a quota issue. Probably whenever they see a non white in the team thats the first thought in their minds.

Ha ha ha, what?!?!? I hear very little moaning about the make up of the South African football team! All quota arguments come from our darker brethren!

And we cannot verify the race of these sources but it is interesting to note that cricinfo quotes sources within CSA as saying :

"The board is questioning him on the team's non-performance and on issues like transformation.

Breaking news :

The interim selection committee, which will replace the one led by Mike Procter, comprises Majola, high performance manager Corrie van Zyl, who has also been appointed as interim coach, and former captain Kepler Wessels.

Does this mean the squad for India will change?

OMG YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow arthur gone, proctor gone!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am hoping smithers is not next though. Now let's just hope they do not replace them with people who want the quota made up :(.

Proctor's already been replaced by Gerald Majola. Who is a wordsmith of note, it might be added.

[Arthur's] resignation came through the normal stock-taking process which followed the England home series and against the backdrop of the disappointing results of 2009 ... The Board wishes to thank Mickey for his great contribution to the advancement of the Proteas to the point where in 2008/09 they had their best season ever and finished on top of the world Test and ODI rankings.

So finishing "on top of the world Test and ODI rankings" constitutes "disappointing results." One has to wonder what would constitute pleasing results.

In 2009 the side only won one test matches, since they came back from aus at his been downhill. They failed to win the icc t20 when they were the best side in the tournament, falter in the semi. Failed on home soil for the icc champions trophy, going out in the group stage.

Winning only 2/7 tests at home (iirc, lost 2/3 against Aus and now drew with england 1/1) and losing a couple of key games really did not make 2009/10 a dream season.

Also add the ICC Champs failure and the T20 Wc failure.

Morons over at ETV news interviewing him. Obsessing about race again.

The idiot asks something along the lines of " Fifteen years after democracy you fielded no black players at the Wanderers against England.

*silence on the line for a few seconds as Procter wonders WTF this guy is smoking*

Procter: Er no black players

*silence*

Anchor: on the last day Mike

Procter: Prince, Amla, Duminy.....

Anchor: er were there enough black players Mike.....

and so it went on......

*facepalm*

Problems seems to be lack of black( coloured, Indian don't count anymore) players :erm:
