Hi I have a windows 2003 standard server setup with 70 odd machines logging on to a domain, but i am having a problem that every now and then i get a machine that will come up with a error "cannot load locally stored profile" and a countdown timer starts counting down from 30. I have tried deleting the ntuser.dat file and running a chkdsk /r on all the machines and it still does the same thing. Any ideas please really need to get this sorted
thanks

Do you use roaming profiles? Check in the eventlogs on the PC for more information, it will have the exact reason for not loading the profile....

this is the entire message that i get with the countdown box sorry took so long
"Windows cannot load the locally stored profile:
Insufficient security rights or a corrupted local file.
Windows has logged you in with a temporary profile any
setting you make will not be saved."

this doesn't happen all the time only when someone logs off and then logs on again a reboot usually sort it out but there are some occasions when it doesn't

does that program need to be loaded on to the machines themselves or onto the server only sorry never heard of this program before

It forces a profile to unload properly by closing all open threads etc so it needs to be installed on the problematic machine, or all machines if you want. I use it all the time, its da bomb :)

Hi Conradl
thanks for the info and program have tried it and it seems to be working so far i have had only one machine that i needed to restart. Do you by any chance know of any other fixes for this problem
