IM so sick of the pessimistic people on this forum i decided to make a tread dedicated to the progress that this community has made:

*We got Icasa to investigate into Telkom
*Which then in turn reduced prices (Albiet not alot)
*Which speeded up the prosses of the SNO
*Icasa, after the investigatations, woke up to finally do its job and regulate telkom
*Now they are unbundling the local loop

So dont come with we havent got anywhere and were not going anywhere
If weve made it this far surely we can make it all the way.

Whoohoo! Absolutely. We have succeeded where everybody said we would fail!
Lets keep up the pressure people

ya and we help people regardless of there situation :D

That’s so true. MyAdsl have done allot and helped loads of newbie’s understanding more about ADSL in SA - do's and don’ts, the list goes on.

Thumbs. Now let’s tell those "Witch"es

*New one - we tought vraptor the difference between which and witch. :p*
Seriously -
- We've educated a sheetload of people about reality.
- We've presented the truth to everybody we can (Look at our ADSL Recommends Feature).
- We've become part of a Smarter, Mobile and therefore, powerful phenomenon, that didn't exist before.

While I agree that we have accomplished a great deal I do think that list is somewhat innacurate.

1. We lodged a complaint against Telkom
2. Telkom reduced their prices slightly in order to deflect criticism
3. There is still no second network operator, they don't even have a license yet.
4. ICASA released a finding document which we all agree with, but they haven't actually begun to regulate Telkom yet.
5. One official has mentioned that the local loop unbundling must take place, that's a far cry from actually doing it.

I don't think anyone has been particularly pessimistic about the process, we've just been burned before and now refuse to get excited before there are tangible results. Unluckily a conference is not a tangible result in this country.

MyADSL continues to be a clear voice of truth in a broadband desert - a place complete with corrupt vultures and greedy scorpions.

Make no mistake, MyADSL has brought intense public scrutiny to bear on an area of the economy that has been under a cosy government "arrangement" for years.
And this scrutiny needs to continue to grow in publicity and impact.

However, if there is one thing we all should have learned by now - its not what officials say, its not what conferences are held, its not even what official documents are published.
The time for that is past. Now is the time to for action.
IBIWISI should be our new mantra.
It is a mantra that demands proof of intent, it is a mantra that forces officials to put deadlines and deliverables to their statements.
