does anybody know of a proper voip system, that allow free calls from one to another, that can be used on a corporate level?

or at least something in that line? i've looked at things like vox telecom and all those things but really it seems to defeat the point "if your lucky and call the right numbers you may save money" ? i mean really.

any suggestions?

if you are up for a challange, install asterisk (on Gentoo) and diy.

does it work well? i have been looking into it but never heard of anybody who actually got it to work right

They installed a least-cost-routing PABX at our previous offices. excellent sales and service (after sale).

MWEB is also in the VOIP market.

ja but dealing with mweb is like dealing with incredible corruption...

who of these VoIP providers are intersted in just suppling the line - ie terminating a couple of SIP-IAX lines on 07x numbers.

I've got the asterisk server going like a boeing - but i'd prefer not to direct the calls through normal POTS... want to cut telkom out of the equation as much as possible.

I work in the PBX support field, and while the VoIP solution seems good on paper, in practise it's a bit of a let down. I've just recently installed a system that has been mentioned in this thread, and we're just having endless problems with delays and voice quality. I've worked on multiple sites that have tried to implement this, and they always come up with the same issues.

Don;t bother installing it all yourself if you want to go DIY, try Asterisk@Home rather - just need a spare machine

Haha... I thought about putting the name in, but then decided someone might read it and just cut the service off totally :p Then I'll really have some issues to deal with

i havent had the opportunity to use something like asterix or equivalents, but i can jsut say there is no delay on skype no matter where you call to

so if you haveing problems, its propably in the set-up and not in the technology

speaking of, only problem i have with skype at the moment for using it in a company is you cant transfer calls :)

You considered a Cisco solution?

They're pretty much the leaders in VoIP ...
