proper voip system?

Asterisk is perfect for a small to medium setup if you are doing a DIY system for yourself imo. A large Asterisk system will no doubt take more understanding and time to setup and outsourcing would be most likely be a viable option. Our asterisk@home box just came online this week, and I must say I'm well impressed. Telbum collected their outdated PBX system :p -where the "major feature" was to put someone on hold! ..and they weren't shy to charge the rental for such a crap pbx either (over the 12 years!)
The Asterisk system is feature rich and provides phenomenal savings each month, while giving you a PBX which can rival large corporates.

and there are plenty of asterisk user groups.:)

What sip clients do you use with that ant101? Some free stuff? Or maybe you us physical phones?

Purchased 2 hard phones Snom320 (very pricey, but to skimp on your phone is to skimp on your sound quality!!) Will be testing the slightly cheaper Budgetone 102 sip phone shortly, so we can add more users to our system. I have not signed up for a voip service as such yet, but Asterisk as an internal PBX running on the local LAN is 100% okay so far. The great thing about Asterisk, is you can expand it as your needs change.

Asterisk Codecs

When using asterisk /asterisk@home make sure you use the right codec for the job at hand, we run 16 office worldwide on asterisk, and its a breeze...we even link into an A grade VOIP Provider that does our call break out....rock solid..

Enjoy Asterisk
