Looking at buy a property in Kyalami. Wanted to pull the report so I can see what the current owner paid for it and what other properties in the area have been sold for but can't find it on Private Property's estimate service: http://www.privateproperty.co.za/PropertyValuations/Default.aspx - where else can I get the info?

Deeds office or find a friendly estate agent to look at her computer

Google Property Valuations, there are websites that do these for like R50 I think. Bare in mind this wont be the true value, it's called a desktop vauation.

Just remember past values are just a guide to what a willing buyer and a willing seller paid THEN.

What a willing buyer and willing seller would pay NOW is not necessarily any co-relation to what was paid in the past given the economic climate prevailing now. You want sales in the same area of the same type of property of the past 6 months to give you a good indication of "worth"

I find agents sneakily include prices of homes not even in your immediate area and often up to a year or more.
