Property24 buys rival Private Property

There is so much more potential for this type of platform, especially if the banks, insurance companies etc. partner, not to mention all the location intelligence that is being harvested.

Can you still list your property privately? As Real estate agents are sharks.

That's what I'm wondering.

I thought the point of private property was to bypass agents and their R100,000+ commissions for a few weeks work.

Private property had become a farce for agents long time ago. You can sell privately but its a lot of work.

It is entirely possible to list privately on Property24. Just call or email the support desk and they will get you sorted.

Such a pity, the title could have been much more sensationalist: "Massive property portal captured by Naspers in top-secret deal". Will be interesting to see what the evaluation is as both portals were burning a lot of cash in recent years.

You can't and you would not have been able to on private property anymore also they sold out long ago.

I have agentfreeproperties etc that I want to build a property portal with to offer what private property was supposed to.

Ummm what crock of nonsense are you spouting about not being able to list privately on private property?

You still can, and that won't change with this acquisition.

Already being done. The company I worked for before leaving SA has been putting systems like this into development for the last few years. The biggest problem is the time it takes for the head of banks of SA, reserve bank etc etc to give approval as it is hard to get them all into a room and then get them to pass the relevant motions.

Is the Competition Commission gonna intervene here? They usually do. Still don't see any mention of them. Except if they're biased towards Naspers (cough....Multichoice....cough) Or do they own major shares in them too.
